FEIB Project Supports Two-Day Event on Inclusion and Sport in Milan

The FEIB Project was among the supporters of a two-day event dedicated to inclusion and sport, held on October 3–4 in Milan. The Accademia Scherma Milano, in collaboration with the Fondazione Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano, the Gruppo Sportivo Dilettantistico Non Vedenti Milano, and Scherma Modica, organized the fifth edition of the workshop “Sport & Disability…in punta di fioretto” on Friday, October 3, and the International Blind Fencing Trophy on Saturday, October 4.

Two days aimed to show how sport can be an extraordinary engine for a more equitable and inclusive society.

On Friday, October 3, the event began with a press conference introducing the 5th International Blind Fencing Trophy “Città di Milano” (held at 9:30 a.m. at the Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano – Via Vivaio 7, Milan), followed by the workshop “Sport & Disability…in punta di fioretto.”

The discussion focused on inclusion, sports activities, and their benefits for the visually impaired, featuring testimonies from Paralympic athletes who shared their national and international achievements. The FEIB project was presented as a possible model by Nathalie Belpaume, President of Bouillargue Escrime (project partner), and Lorenzo Radice, during the talk “How can one practice a sport when affected by a disability: the FEIB Project as the answer.”

Speakers, including institutional representatives and top-level athletes, illustrated the benefits of sport for people with visual disabilities and engaged in dialogue with students from Milan’s secondary schools attending the event. The young participants responded with enthusiasm and curiosity, contributing with questions and reflections that enriched the discussion. It was a lively and engaging meeting that reaffirmed how sport can truly be a tool for inclusion, growth, and inspiration for the younger generations.

On Saturday, October 4, the Accademia Scherma Milano hosted the men’s and women’s competitions of the 5th International Blind Fencing Trophy, an event officially included in the program of initiatives leading up to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The event was sponsored by CONI, the Italian Paralympic Committee, Sport e Salute, FISPIC, FIS, Scherma Modica, SIMFER, as well as by the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan, the Municipality of Modica, FISDIR, FEIB, Fondazione Istituto Ciechi Milano, UICI, Gruppo Sportivo Dilettantistico Non Vedenti Milano, FISPES, and co-financed by the European Union.
